Media Advisory/Veterans Affairs Canada: Snow Sculpture to be Unveiled in Tribute to Battle of Vimy Ridge

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 1, 2007) - Rod Bruinooge, Member of Parliament Winnipeg South, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Federal Interlocutor for Metis and Non-Status Indians, on behalf of the Honourable Greg Thompson, Minister of Veterans Affairs, will take part in a ceremony to unveil a 17-foot Vimy tribute snow sculpture in Winnipeg. The Honourable Gary Doer, Premier of Manitoba, family members of soldiers who fought at Vimy Ridge, representatives of local Veterans' organizations, the snow sculpture artists, youth and the Official Voyageurs will also be in attendance. M.P. Rod Bruinooge and the Honourable Gary Doer, Premier of Manitoba will also announce plans to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge in Winnipeg in April.
