Media Alert: Knovel to Present Panel of Industry Experts on Green Engineering

Panelists Including Nobel Prize Winner Woodrow W. Clark II, Ph.D., to Discuss Sustainability and Its Impact on Design and Innovation

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 20, 2010) - Knovel, a Web-based application integrating technical information with analytical and search tools, today announces that it will present a panel of industry experts discussing green engineering on February 8, 2010 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, California.

Moderated by William Jan, Senior Research Analyst, Product Innovation and Engineering at Aberdeen Group and author of "Materials Compliance for Green Product Development: Balancing Social Responsibility with Profitability," panelists will discuss what it means to be green today, market drivers and the evolution of corporate-level green initiatives. Panelists will also address how they see these changes influencing how engineers work, as well as what engineers need to know to get the job done.

Noted panelists include:

-- Woodrow W. Clark II, Ph.D., Qualitative Economist and Nobel Prize
-- Sarah M.J. Welch, Ecological Designer, Great Ecology & Environments,
-- Jon Fortune, Manager, Energy Advisory Service, California Center for
    Sustainable Energy; and,
-- Terry Swack, Co-Founder and CEO, Sustainable Minds.

"Reports indicate there will be 37 million renewable energy jobs by the year 2030 -- making up 17 percent of all U.S. employment -- a clear sign that sustainable energy and green regulations are influencing the way engineers do business," said Chris Forbes, Knovel President and CEO. "As sustainability requirements continue to redefine the engineering industry, access to relevant, reliable technical information is absolutely vital to help engineers sustain productivity and innovation."

In 2009, Knovel launched a new subject area focused on sustainable energy and development to support research across such topics as renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable industrial development. Knovel aims to help engineers tackle a variety of energy efficiency projects, from product design and development to process improvement, safety and materials selection.

Held in conjunction with the Pacific Design & Manufacturing show in Anaheim, California February 9-11, 2010, Knovel executives will also be available at booth # 3261 to discuss how engineers are currently using its Web-based application to help support their energy efficiency project initiatives.
