Media Alert: Maker Faire Teams With the Exploratorium for a Pre-Faire Event for Young Makers Called Open MAKE

SEBASTOPOL, CA--(Marketwire - April 20, 2010) -  Maker Faire, the World's premiere DIY (Do-It-Yourself) event, teams with The Exploratorium for a pre-Maker Faire event for young makers (12-18 years old) called Open MAKE.

What: Open MAKE at The Exploratorium
  Kids from around the Bay Area will be there to learn from makers and to showcase their own projects that they hope to share at Maker Faire in San Mateo, May 22-23, 2010.
   
  87-year-old maker Brad Prather will be at the Exploratorium sharing his mechanical solar powered toys, and Ernie Fosselius, known for his film "Hardware Wars" (the 1978 spoof on "Star Wars"), will be there showing off his automata and caricatures.
   
  The bright young faces of tomorrow's innovators combined with The Exploratorium's backdrop and these inspirational Makers provides a great preview for the Maker Faire's 5th annual event in May.
   
When: Saturday, April 24, 2010 11 am-3 pm
  Each Open MAKE session starts with a "Meet The Makers" program in the McBean Theater from 11am-12 pm.
  From 12:30-3:00 pm, will be "In the Studio" where kids can do projects and learn from other Makers.
