Media/Event Advisory: Announcing the First-ever Information Technology Executive Leadership Conference for SouthWestern Ontario

WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 10, 2007) -

ATTN: Business Editors

For the first time in Southwestern Ontario, Communitech presents "CIO/07" Southwestern Ontario's first executive conference on technology solutions for business, dedicated to professional development and success for executive business technology teams.

What: CIO/07
When: February 15th, 2007, 8:00am-4:30pm
Where: Holiday Inn Kitchener, Waterloo Region
Who: Chief Information Officers and their teams, from all industries

CIO/07 will bring together information and technology leadership from across industries, creating a forum for senior tech in manufacturing, financial services, government, education, health care and other industry segments.

"It's very exciting to be a part of an inaugural program like this one, drawing together executive information systems teams who rarely get the chance to network with their peers," says John Martin, CIO, The Economical Insurance of Canada and Chair of the inaugural CIO/07 event. "In recent years, we've seen the evolution of the Chief Information Officer, traditionally a procurement officer chained to the desk, transform into an executive clearly linked to the business' bottom line and core to the total alignment of the business."

The full-day symposium will emphasize the practical, offering case studies with implications for the CIO and the entire IS/IT team. Iain Klugman, President, Communitech: Waterloo Region Technology Association, explains: "It's critical to our future economic success to stop thinking of tech industry as something isolated from the business process. The importance of the CIO/07 conference is that it recognizes technology and business leadership across the board, from manufacturing to telecom to public and service business."

Through a combination of keynote addresses, breakout sessions (including case studies), and a panel discussion, delegates will come away with practical information to apply to business challenges while expanding networks of senior information managers.

CIO/07 is an opportunity for peers from across SouthWestern Ontario to hear from experienced information executives share their success stories and best practices. Key issues to be discussed include: finding and developing talent, aligning information technology with organizational effectiveness and business results, deciding where to place technology bets, and staying ahead of increasingly sophisticated threats to security.

CIO/07 is made possible with the support of Premier Sponsors: Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard (Canada) Co. and OnX Enterprise Solutions.
