Media Invitation/Photo Opportunity: Sports Team Mascots Face Off at SickKids to Raise Funds and Awareness for Children's Hospitals

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 19, 2009) -

Media are invited to attend a special showdown at The Hospital for Sick Children pitting
 mascots from Toronto's major sports franchises against each other. On the bill:
Dough Dude – Pizza Pizza
The Raptor – Toronto Raptors
Carlton the Bear – Toronto Maple Leafs
Jason – Toronto Argonauts
Maniac – Mississauga St. Michael's Majors
Duke the Dog – Toronto Marlies
The "friendly" competition, which includes a small obstacle course, is being held at the mid-
point of a week-long fundraiser to celebrate National Pizza Month and raise money for
Children's Miracle Network.
   
WHAT:  
Mascots will partner with children who have received treatment at SickKids to run a wacky obstacle course and enjoy some pizza; a rare opportunity to see Toronto's team mascots in the same place, at the same time and in support of the same cause.

Background:

To celebrate National Pizza Month, Pizza Pizza restaurants across Canada will hold the annual October Slices for Smiles fundraiser from October 19th to 25th. As part of the week long campaign, traditional Pizza Pizza restaurants in Canada will offer select menu items at a discount with a portion of the proceeds going to Children's Miracle Network. Donations can also be made in store, by phone, online or with the purchase of a Children's Miracle Network balloon. To date, Pizza Pizza has raised over $200,000 for Children's Miracle Network.
