Media Invite: Monsanto to Announce Details of a $15 Million Investment in Manitoba/Saskatchewan

Media are invited to join Monsanto and other industry stakeholders as Monsanto announces the construction of its new, state-of-the-art Monsanto Canada Breeding Centre, to be built adjacent to its existing Canadian head office at the University of Manitoba's Smart Park.

The $10 million Monsanto Canada Breeding Centre will cover approximately 29,000 sq. ft and contain office space, labs and greenhouses and will serve as the home to the majority of the breeding effort for Monsanto Canada's rapidly growing canola business. An additional $2 million will be spent on capital for the new facility.

Participating in the groundbreaking ceremony and available for media comment will be:

- Ryan Baldwin, Seeds and Traits Lead, Monsanto Canada

- The Honourable Rosann Wowchuk, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives

- JoAnne Buth, President, Canola Council of Canada

- Alan Simms, President of Smartpark Research and Technology Park, University of Manitoba

- Danie Thienessien, Spring Canola Breeding Lead, Monsanto Canada

Additional details of a $3 million expansion of Monsanto's Crop Technology Centre (CTRC) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan will also be shared at this event.
