Memphis Flea Market Continuing at Fairgrounds While Seeking New Site

"The Big One" Committed to Staying in Memphis

MEMPHIS, TN--(Marketwire - February 3, 2010) - The Memphis Flea Market, known as "The Big One," is continuing its normal monthly operating schedule at the Mid-South Fairgrounds while it seeks a new site for its long-term future in Memphis.

The City of Memphis notified the Memphis Flea Market in December that it would assist it in finding a new location so that a major redevelopment of the fairgrounds site can begin.

"The Memphis Flea Market wants to assure our vendors and loyal patrons that we are working with the City of Memphis to ensure the market's continued operations at a new site," said General Manager Sandy Hembree.

"In the meantime, everyone should know that we are open at the fairgrounds. It's business as usual," Hembree said.

The next Memphis Flea Market is Feb. 20 and 21 at the fairgrounds. Hembree said she will continue to keep vendors and patrons informed about the site search process.

The Big One attracts more than 600 vendors and thousands of shoppers. It features everything from old to new, including but not limited to antiques, jewelry, collectibles, sports cards, computers, produce, framed pictures, floral arrangements, clothing, furniture, home accessories, rugs, candles, toys, crafts, pet supplies, and leather goods.
