Mercy Ministries: Unique and Sustainable Results in Restoring the Lives of Young Women

NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwire - November 24, 2008) - Mercy Ministries' free-of-charge program serves a diverse population of young women from various socio-economic backgrounds, aged 13-28, who are facing a combination of life-controlling issues such as drug and alcohol abuse, addictions, depression, eating disorders and unplanned pregnancy.

In a recent independent survey of former residents of Mercy Ministries of America, 93% of survey respondents answered "Yes" to the question, "Did Mercy Ministries help you transform your life and restore your hope?"

This study serves as further confirmation that Mercy Ministries' non-conventional approach to healing uniquely allows young women to permanently stop destructive life-cycles.

Mercy Ministries of America was founded in 1983 by Nancy Alcorn and has served over 2,000 young women in the past 25 years.

"Before I entered the Mercy Ministries program, I had been dealing with self-harm, depression and low self-esteem. Through my experience at Mercy, I have learned so much about myself. I have a personal relationship with God and have been set free from the struggles that would have potentially taken my life." -- Kimberly Brownie, Mercy Ministries graduate

The Mercy Ministries program is free of charge, voluntary, Christ-centered and lasts approximately six months. The program offers counseling, nutrition education, fitness instruction, life-skills training and educational opportunities to a diverse population of young women from various socio-economic backgrounds. The goal of the Mercy Ministries program is to help each young woman discover purpose in her life and positively contribute to her community.

Mercy Ministries of America has homes in Monroe, LA; Nashville, TN; and St. Louis, MO with a future home set to open in Lincoln, CA in early 2009. Mercy Ministries has global affiliates in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Peru.
