Metallurgical Testing, High Sensitivity Airborne Gradiometer Survey and Aggressive Drilling Planned for Rainy River Project

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 1, 2007) - Nelson W. Baker, President of Rainy River Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:RR) confirms that the level of exploration activity by the Company in the Rainy River Project area remains high and will increase considerably over the next few months. In addition to the four drills aggressively drilling in Richardson Township (two dedicated to the 17 and ODM Zones and the other two testing several high priority gold targets), the Company has initiated metallurgical testing with SGS Lakefield Research Limited on the above two gold zones and has commissioned Fugro Airborne Surveys to fly a closely-spaced 4,000 line kilometre, high sensitivity magnetic gradiometer survey over the Company's entire land holdings in the area.

In the Off Lake area, approximately 23 kilometres northeast of Richardson Township, under the supervision of Rainy's regional geologist, C.J. Baker, MSc., a program consisting of prospecting, mechanical stripping/trenching, rock sampling and geological mapping is testing a major gold-bearing porphyry dyke/sill complex. Dr. Lorne Ayres, an expert in volcanology who has played a vital role in Rainy River's success, identified the porphyry complex and has been assigned to map it in detail. The porphyry complex is up to nine kilometres long and may be related to the Richardson Township gold mineralization.

Nelson Baker commented, "Based on our drilling successes to date in Richardson Township and our reverse circulation till and bedrock sampling programs, we believe that the local area hosts several new, sub-cropping gold zones. Blessed with solid funding, excellent infrastructure and all year round exploration, we plan to aggressively advance the 17 and ODM Zones and to explore for other deposits in the area."

As indicated in previous releases, assays are pending for twelve holes that are either in the laboratory or being sampled. Due to a very high level of drilling activity in Ontario, the period between drill hole completion and receiving analytical results is now exceeding five weeks. As of September 20, 2007, a total of 192 holes have been completed by the Company in the Rainy River Project area and complete analytical results have been reported up to and including NR07-180.
