Micrel Makes No Compromises When Bringing on the Power

New Dual LDO Family Offers Solid Value, No Trade-Offs

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - November 6, 2008) - Micrel Inc., (NASDAQ: MCRL), an industry leader in analog, high bandwidth communications and Ethernet IC solutions, today launched a new family of dual low dropout voltage linear regulators. The MIC5370 and the MIC5371 are part of a new family of dual LDOs offering low dropout voltage of 155mV@150mA, more than 60db Power Supply Ripple Rejection (PSRR) and low quiescent current 32µA, in a very compact form factor. This family is offered in a small 1.6 mm x 1.6 mm 6-pin leadless thin MLF® package making it ideal for today's most advanced portable applications including cellular phone RF power, camera modules, imaging sensors for digital still and video cameras, PDAs, portable media players (PMP) and PC cameras. The MIC5370 and MIC5371 are currently available, with pricing starting at $0.26 for 1K quantities. Samples can now be ordered online on Micrel's web site at:

"Today's portable market continues to demand cost effective solutions without compromising on specifications or performance," noted Andy Khayat, Micrel's director of marketing for power products. "Micrel's new MIC5370 and MIC5371 addresses that need by offering engineers significant advantages over solutions currently on the market. This new series of high performance dual LDOs offers excellent overall performance and value for high volume handheld electronics."

The MIC5370 and MIC5371 integrate two, high performance LDOs that offer exceptional transient response while requiring only small and inexpensive 1uF ceramic capacitors. In addition, the MIC5371 offers an auto discharge function. Both the MIC5370 and MIC5371 offer full protection circuitry including current limit and thermal shutdown protection, and an operating junction temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
