Microfabrica Grows Management Team With Promotions and New Hire

VAN NUYS, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 15, 2006 -- Microfabrica Inc., a leader in microdevice and microsystem fabrication, has just announced three executive-level promotions and the hiring of a Vice President to its management team.

Michael Lockard, previously the Vice President of Operations for the company, has been promoted to the position Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Lockard will now oversee process R&D for the company in addition to manufacturing operations. His immediate focus will be production capacity expansion in order to meet the increased demand for the company's products.

Reporting to Mr. Lockard in the capacity of Vice President of Process Development is a new hire, Mr. Craig Hiner, who will be leading the technical team in charge of EFAB™ process technology, the company's breakthrough microfabrication technology. Mr. Hiner brings to Microfabrica over 20 years of highly applicable process development and management experience from the disk drive industry.

Richard Chen, previously the Director of Applications Engineering, has been promoted to Vice President, Product Development. He is replacing Chris Bang who has recently left the company, and now has overall responsibility for all product definition, design and characterization. Mr. Chen's team will continue to work intimately with customers to understand their needs and lead the design of state-of-the-art microdevices.

Dennis Smalley, previously the Director of Intellectual Property for the company, has been promoted to Vice President, Intellectual Property. Mr. Smalley has been leading the charge in the company's prolific patent program with over 150 issued and pending patents, and is himself an inventor on many of them.
