Minister Ambrose Welcomes Tentative Agreement Between Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC)

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 14, 2009) - The Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Labour, today, welcomes news of a tentative agreement to end the labour dispute between the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation and the Public Service Alliance of Canada.

"I congratulate both parties for their commitment to finding a negotiated solution," said Minister Ambrose. "I appreciate the additional effort that both parties put into achieving this tentative agreement."

On December 10, 2009, the parties were called back to the negotiation table by federal mediators. Following intensive negotiations, that began December 11, the parties reached a tentative settlement today. The agreement is subject to ratification by the union membership.

The collective agreement, covering a unit of 420 clerical and office employees working at the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the Canadian War Museum, expired March 31, 2009. The union commenced strike action on September 21, 2009.
