Minister Kenney Announces Citizenship Judge Appointment

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 26, 2009) - Renee Giroux has been appointed as a citizenship judge for a three-year full-time term in Montreal, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced today.

Prior to her appointment, Judge Giroux served as a deputy clerk and a legal attache in the Quebec Justice Department, and worked closely with Quebec Superior Court judges. She holds a certificate in Marketing Management from HEC Montreal and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Universite du Quebec a Montreal, and she completed the Programme de formation professionnelle at the Ecole du Barreau du Quebec in Montreal. Judge Giroux has also been active in her community through her volunteer work at Info Crime Quebec.

Citizenship judges are responsible for making decisions with regard to citizenship applications, presiding over citizenship ceremonies and administering the oath of citizenship to new citizens.
