Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson Hosts Assembly to Honor Attorney General Drew Edmondson With the Internet Keep Safe Award

Media Invited to Attend the "Norton Connected & Protected Kids' Assembly" on Internet Safety; Symantec and iKeepSafe to Award Grant to D.A.R.E. for Rollout of Internet Safety Program in Oklahoma City Schools

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK--(Marketwire - October 8, 2007) - In conjunction with iKeepSafe, D.A.R.E. and the Miss America Organization, Symantec is bringing the "Norton Connected & Protected Mobile Tour" to Capitol Hill Elementary School in Oklahoma City on October 11. More than 100 fifth graders will participate in a special Kids' Assembly hosted by Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson to learn how to stay safe online. Event highlights include:

--  Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson sharing her personal story about being
    approached online by a stranger as a teenager and discussing the importance
    of Internet safety with elementary students.
--  iKeepSafe and Symantec honoring Attorney General Drew Edmondson with
    the Internet Keep Safe Award for his efforts in keeping children safe
--  Symantec and iKeepSafe awarding a grant to D.A.R.E. officers for the
    rollout of the "Faux Paw the Techno Cat" Internet Safety Program in
    Oklahoma City schools. The curriculum, developed by Penn State Dept. of
    Education, D.A.R.E., and iKeepSafe, is based on the "Faux Paw the Techno
    Cat" series of children's books and animated films, sponsored in
    partnership with Symantec.
--  Students learning the story of Faux Paw the Techno Cat, the curious,
    Web-surfing cat who teaches kids how to keep safe online. The Faux Paw
    costume character will be on hand to bring the story to life for students.
--  Symantec Internet Safety Advocate Marian Merritt exploring the role
    the Internet plays in students' school and family lives during an
    interactive Q&A. Topics include cyber-bullying, social networks, and
    warning signs to watch out for when online.
--  Students touring the "Connected and Protected Mobile Tour," a tractor-
    trailer-sized Internet classroom with stations and games dedicated to
    raising awareness of Internet safety.
