Mission Bon Accueil : University of Montreal's School of Optometry Offers Free Consultation to 30 Homeless Persons

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 18, 2009) - About 30 homeless persons will leave the Men's shelter of Welcome Hall mission Friday morning November 27th for a free consultation at the School of Optometry of the University of Montreal. Once there, they will receive a complete examination and a pair of eyeglasses.

The men have been pre-selected in accordance with their needs regarding their eyesight. A bus (from the Old Brewery Mission) has been reserved to bring the men of Welcome Hall Mission to the School of Optometry located at 3744, Jean-Brillant Street in Montreal. The men will be divided in 2 groups: 18 in the morning and 12 in the afternoon. They will be welcomed by Mr. Jacques Gresset, Director of the school of Optometry, Mr. Pierre Forcier, Director of the eye clinic et a team of optometrists. The men have the opportunity to personally choose their eyewear from the regular product offering of Centennial.

This project is a joint effort of Welcome Hall Mission, the Homelessness Partnering Secretariat, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, the School of Optometry of the University of Montreal, Centennial (providing the eyewear), Super Lab (providing the lens) and the Canadian association of Optometrists.
