Mississauga Businesses Incented to Conserve

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 1, 2007) -

Attention News/Business Editors:

With managing energy costs on the mind while reducing the environmental footprint, over 100 Mississauga and Brampton business customers attended the September launch of the Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program (ERIP) hosted by Enersource Hydro Mississauga and Hydro One Brampton.

Designed to encourage local businesses with cash incentives for retrofitting high energy consuming items such as lighting and air conditioning units, ERIP allows business customers to contribute to the reduction of electricity demand in the Province while enjoying the electricity cost savings afforded by making energy efficient improvements.

Craig Fleming, Acting President and CEO of Enersource Corporation, notes: "Our business customers are always looking for ways to better manage their electricity consumption while becoming more environmentally focused. ERIP provides them with a financial incentive for energy efficiency investments which deliver long term savings. In 2006, as part of the pilot program, one of Enersource's largest customers, Brookfield LePage, in partnership with Johnson Control, implemented a lighting retrofit at their postal facility in Mississauga with an incentive of $44,391 and saved an estimated 700 kW, or approximately 50 per cent.

All Enersource Hydro Mississauga business customers are eligible for the ERIP for projects including lighting retrofits, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), electric motors and transformer upgrades. In addition to a financial incentive for prescriptive, pre-defined retrofit measures, custom projects for highly specialized initiatives can be evaluated for incentive eligibility.
