Moen Introduces Innovative Filtering Kitchen Faucet Available at Lowe's

NORTH OLMSTED, OH -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 8, 2006 -- Home improvement shoppers now have a new option when it comes to water filtration thanks to the launch of Moen Incorporated's new filtering faucet. Available at Lowe's, the new Muirfield™ with ChoiceFlo™ filtering kitchen faucet, which looks and operates like a traditional faucet, will provide consumers with both great-tasting filtered and tap water from one spout.

"Research into the problems consumers experience in and around their kitchen sink revealed that one of the areas of greatest opportunity was improving the quality of water from the kitchen faucet," said Jack Suvak, Moen's director of research.

He continued, "Because consumers are concerned about their water quality, we found the majority of those surveyed use some type of filtration device. And while many of the consumers owning a filtering device are satisfied, approximately one-third of homeowners said they would switch in the next five years." This presented an opportunity for Moen to develop an innovative filtering faucet -- no unsightly attachments required.

What makes Muirfield with ChoiceFlo unique? It's really one faucet spout providing two waterways -- filtered and non-filtered. When the consumer wishes to switch from tap to filtered water, he or she simply turns the separate filtration handle located on the deck plate. A separate waterway delivers the filtered water through a hidden port under the spout. The carbon filter, mounted under the sink, is more thorough at eliminating contaminants than filters found in standard filtering pitchers, faucet-mounted filters and refrigerators with built-in filtration systems.

Through patented technology, Moen ensures that the faucet performs with the utmost of ease. Users can fill glasses or pitchers of water in no time, thanks to a generous flow rate of one gallon per minute (gpm). The activated carbon block water filter reduces many impurities, including lead and chlorine, and is designed to last a lengthy six months. An integrated filter-life indicator signals when it needs to be replaced. The low-cost replacement filter, available for purchase at Lowe's or at www.moen.com, simply clicks into place under the sink -- no tools or water shutoff are needed.

In addition to its functionality, Muirfield with ChoiceFlo is a stylish and affordable kitchen faucet option. Featuring an elegant spout, its traditional style will easily fit into any décor. Muirfield with ChoiceFlo is offered exclusively at Lowe's in a Chrome finish and comes with a lifetime limited warranty.

"Gone are the days of bulky faucet-mounted filtering systems or the hassles associated with water pitchers," said Kelly Atkins, Moen's director of retail marketing. "This system is easy to install, affordably priced and soon will be something that consumers will wonder how they ever lived without."
