Monster Copper Identifies Drill Targets on its Copper-Gold Properties in Carajas, Brazil

RICHMOND HILL, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - May 15, 2006) - Monster Copper Corp. (TSX VENTURE:MNS) is pleased to announce that ten VTEM conductors have been identified on two of the properties under option from Falconbridge Limited in the Carajas Mineral Province of northern Brazil. Drill testing of priority targets is planned following a phase of line-cutting and soil geochemistry.

A 1,621 line-kilometre VTEM survey has been completed over portions of four properties, Sao Felix, Agua Fria, Paredao and Sereno, (the survey was extended by 529 line-kilometres beyond the original planned survey - see Feb 20, 2006 new release). VTEM is a "state-of-the-art" high-resolution helicopter borne time domain electromagnetic system that can provide drill-ready targets. It is capable of detecting conductors such as the stringer type copper sulphides known to exist in the Carajas IOCG deposits.

On the Paredao property six conductors have been identified, two of which are considered to be high priority IOCG targets. One of these has a strike-extension in excess of 2 km, and is coincident with a structurally controlled magnetic trend. The second one is adjacent to a discrete bull's-eye magnetic anomaly.

On the Agua Fria property four late-time VTEM conductors have been identified, of which two have strike extensions in excess of 800 m and are regarded as significant. One of the conductors is coincident with a series of gold-in-soil anomalies in an area covered by laterite (up to 530 ppb Au in a background of less than 10 ppb Au). A stream sediment sample along strike from this anomaly returned 992 ppb Au. The second conductor is associated with anomalous copper-in-soil values (up to 205 ppm in a background of less than 100 ppm).

The geology and geochemistry in the vicinity of the Agua Fria conductors is fairly well understood and these conductors will be ready for drill testing following a short program of field checking. The conductors on the Paredao property occur in jungle and a program of line-cutting, soil geochemistry as well as geological reconnaissance is planned, with the objective of determining the best place to drill test the conductors. It is anticipated that drilling will commence shortly after this phase of fieldwork is completed.

A program of soil geochemistry and geological reconnaissance is also planned on the Aquiri and Marajai properties as well as on the 3.8 km long IOCG alteration zone with anomalous Cu on the Sao Felix property.

Ten properties are under option from Falconbridge Limited and are situated in the Carajas Mineral Province of northern Brazil, a region well known for its major reserves and production of copper-gold, iron, manganese, nickel and bauxite. The area has good road access and exploration is year-round. Within the last ten years the region has seen the discovery and development of world-class copper-gold deposits belonging to the IOCG deposit type.

The Qualified Person, as defined by National Instrument 43-101, responsible for review of this news release is Dr. Tom Setterfield, P.Geo., Vice-President of Exploration.
