Montreal Alouettes: Training Camp Report-Day 5

SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - May 25, 2006) - The following is today's recap of the Montreal Alouettes' training camp now taking place at the Campus du Fort Saint-Jean.

New practice format

This morning's practice consisted of 50 plays on offence and on defence, separated by special teams. According to Coach Matthews, this morning's practice will allow the coaches to analyze the team's progress so far.

Short and sweet

The Alouettes were on the field for a little more than an hour today. Practice ended at 10:20 a.m.

About the format of this morning's practice:

"We are trying to give the players the pace of a game."

Kickers at work

Kickers Damon Duval and Christopher Milo, as well as the long snappers and kick returners were finally able to get in some practice of their own, on the outdoor field at Campus du Fort St. Jean after regular practice had finished.

Ricky Bell expected

General Manager Jim Popp informed the media that defensive halfback Ricky Bell is expected to arrive in camp in the upcoming days.

Jim Trimble

The Alouettes send their condolences to the friends and family of former Alouette head coach Jim Trimble, who was with the team from 1963 through 1965. He passed away Tuesday in Indianapolis after a battle with emphysema. He was 87.

Practice will start at 8:30 am. Location to be determined.
