More Than 20,000 Fans Attend Day 1 of CIS FINAL 8 Men's Basketball Championship, Presented by Milk

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 19, 2010) - In conjunction with Canadian Interuniversity Sport and Scotiabank Place, the host organizing committee for the 2010 CIS Final 8 Men's Basketball Championship presented by Milk this evening announced that a total of 20,936 fans attended the tournament's quarter-final sessions on Friday at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.

Four teams remain in the hunt for the W.P. McGee Trophy, which will be presented to the national champion following Sunday's final.

Results From CIS Championship quarter-finals:

Quarter-final #1: No. 2 Cape Breton 74 No. 7 Calgary 82

Quarter-final #2: No. 3 UBC 79 No. 6 Lakehead 58

Quarter-final #3: No. 4 Windsor 68 No. 5 Saskatchewan 71

Quarter-final #4: No. 1 Carleton 83 No. 8 UQAM 72

Saturday's semi-final games at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. are single elimination matchups with the two winners advancing to Sunday afternoon's championship game at 6:30 p.m. The consolation semi-final session takes place earlier on Saturday with games at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., while the lone Sunday session also features the fifth-place game at 4 p.m.

Doubleheader session tickets, which include entry to two games, are available starting at $20 per session. Each of the three remaining sessions (six games in total) will take place at Ottawa's Scotiabank Place.
