Motorists Warned of Insurance Premium Hikes

KENT, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Nov. 12, 2009) - Leading HGV and motor trade insurance specialists Quote Me Today have warned customers to brace themselves for an increase in the cost of motor insurance next year.

This warning follows reports from Deloitte that over 85% of insurers plan to increase their premiums in 2010. The annual survey of the insurance industry revealed that half of the insurers questioned plan to put up premiums by 5-10%, while one-fifth estimated increases of over 10%.

This is further bad news for motorists, at the end of a year when premiums have risen by 14%, despite the fact that deflation has meant prices falling in other sectors. Insurers are blaming these rises on a surge in the amount of fraudulent motor claims which are occurring due to the recession and an increase in the number of uninsured drivers on Britain's roads.

The survey also highlighted the growing impact of the internet, with more and more people now going online to find the best deals, it is believed that we will continue to see significant changes to the current mass market share of the main insurance providers.

Quote Me Today specialise in providing insurance cover for both personal and commercial vehicle markets. Using a panel of insurers, they can offer customers the most appropriate cover at the most affordable prices. Clients can purchase insurance policies quickly and easily online, or alternatively, they can contact a sales and customer services team based in Whitstable, Kent, by phone.

A spokesperson for the firm commented:

"This news comes at the end of a bad year for motorists, particularly in light of the rising cost of fuel. Although these insurance premium hikes are inevitable, we will do whatever we can to limit their impact on our clients.
