Mustang Retains VP Operations-Focus on Advancing Maskwa Nickel Project

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 6, 2006) - The Board of Directors of Mustang Minerals Corp. (TSX VENTURE:MUM) today announced that Ernest J. Marcotte, P.Eng., is joining Mustang as Vice President Operations. Mr. Marcotte has had a distinguished career in the mining industry with extensive experience in metallurgical and mining operations including plant design, commissioning and operations. Mr. Marcotte's primary focus will be on advancing the Maskwa Nickel Project into production.

Mr. Marcotte has worked for a number of successful mining companies including Falconbridge Limited, Denison Mines, McIsaac Explorations (which operated the Inco Shebandowan nickel mine) and North American Palladium. Recently he has worked for SNC Lavalin as senior metallurgist and as a consultant for Winnipeg Environmental specializing on mining related projects.

Mustang's Maskwa Nickel Project contains a 43-101 Indicated Nickel Open Pit Resource containing 78.75 million pounds of nickel and 17.06 million pounds of copper. The Indicated Underground Resource contains 19.31 million pounds of nickel and 2.46 million pounds of copper. The resource calculation was completed by Roscoe Postle Associates in February 2005.

Maskwa Mayville Project Update

Currently second stage metallurgical testwork is pending on samples from the Maskwa Nickel Deposit. Results of the metallurgical testwork are expected to be available shortly. In addition to the resource at Maskwa, Mustang has recently retained Roscoe Postle Associates to complete a second mineral resource estimate at the Mayville Property which is located approximately 35 km to the north of Maskwa.
