MyAssist Facilitates the Safe Evacuation of 8 Haitian Children in Need of Major Orthopedic Surgeries

Massachusetts Medical Staff to Perform Free Orthopedic Surgeries

STEVENS POINT, WI--(Marketwire - February 11, 2010) - Noel Group, a pioneer in travel insurance and personal assistance services, today announced that MyAssist™ coordinated efforts to safely transport eight Haitian children from Hospital Sacre Crure in Milot, Haiti to Shriners and Baystate Health Hospitals in Springfield and Boston Massachusetts, where they will receive immediate medical care to treat their life threatening conditions before being reunited with their families in Haiti. My Assist will continue to monitor and coordinate with all parties until the children are safely home.

MyAssist leveraged the company's 25 years of emergency medical experience, which includes assistance during 9-11, the Asian Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina, as well as a vast network of international connections to navigate through the various physical, political and logistical obstacles in Haiti. For this case, MyAssist coordinated the effort in conjunction with Dr. Ian Goodman and Nurse Kimberly Lucey, from Baystate Health Hospital, who traveled to Haiti and identified children in critical need of comprehensive medical surgeries and care.

A special medical team that includes Dr. Jill A. Griffin, an emergency room physician at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield; Dr. Ian Goodman and Dr. Joeli Hetler of Baystate Medical Center in Springfield; Dr. Ann Marks of Northampton; Kimberly Lucey and many others will perform the surgeries at no charge. Shriners and Baystate Health Hospitals have donated their facility as well as the necessary medical equipment and supplies.

"We worked closely with Haitian Immigration officials, the U.S. State Department and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol to expedite entry permissions for these children so that they were evacuated both quickly and legally and with the full consent of the Haitian government," said John Noel, CEO, Noel Group.

MyAssist tapped into the company's network of emergency transportation partners to oversee the logistics of safely evacuating the children from Haiti to the United States. Most of the children traveled on a donated plane. Dr. Ian Goodman and Kimberly Lucey accompanied the children as medical escorts and provided the necessary medical assistance during the trip.
