Two of the latest additions to the award-winning family of all-in-one security gateway appliances from NETGEAR have received accolades from two premier UK sources for technology news and reviews. The ProSecure Unified Threat Management (UTM) 5 appliance and the ProSecure UTM10 appliance, reviewed in PC Pro and IT Pro respectively, both received an impressive score of 6/7 along with the publications' 'Recommended' logos.

The reviewer observes the UTM5's impressive range of security features available at 'a price competitors will find impossible to match', awarding 7/7 for value for money. He notes in particular the appliance's ability to create up to five reports on spam, malware, blocked files and websites over any given period. The full review can be found here.

This sentiment is reflected in the review of the UTM10, which is described as incorporating the key features of bigger models but at a very reasonable price point. The reviewer lists these features, which include: 'IPS, anti-virus, anti-spam, web filtering, IM and P2P controls, IPsec VPNs and even SSL VPNs'. Scoring a 97% success rate in an anti-spam test, the UTM10 is positioned as 'very easy to deploy and no pushover in the performance stakes'. The full review can be found here.

These reviews follow the recent announcement that the NETGEAR ProSecure Web and Email Threat Management Appliance (STM600) received a perfect score across six categories in SC Magazine US' competitive review of anti-malware gateways.

Mark Power, Managing Director, NETGEAR UK&I, commented: "Regardless of the size of an organisation, information security is imperative to operational success. Without the right solution, internal IT systems are at risk from outside threats such as malware and viruses. Our aim was to help small and medium businesses address this challenge by producing a set of appliances comprising the top security features available, at an affordable price point."

He added: "Coupled with the recent review of the STM600 in SC Magazine US, we feel these awards highlight NETGEAR's commitment to helping businesses achieve the right level of network security, and encapsulates IT Pro and PC Pro's ongoing recognition of our investment in developing affordable yet feature-rich security solutions."

Designed for smaller businesses, the ProSecure Unified Threat Management appliances combine VPN, zero day protection, anti-virus, anti-spy, anti-spam, intrusion prevention, URL filtering and proxy firewall for optimum performance with security coverage. There are three models in the series, each recommended for a different number of concurrent users and tailored for each organisation's unique traffic characteristics. The subscription fee included in the price guarantees all updates and support for the first year.

The NETGEAR STM combines the best security features with patent-pending Stream Scanning Technology. Easily deployed and highly recommended in recent reviews the STM600 provides SMBs with a simple yet effective and affordable web and email protection against Internet-based threats.
