National Adoption Weekend Seeks Families for Homeless and Hurricane-Displaced Pets

-- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 13, 2005 --

More than 14,000 abandoned and homeless pets hope to find homes during the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend. The bi-annual event also will help find homes for many of the shelter animals displaced by Hurricane Katrina as part of an ongoing effort.

The weekend initiative is another way for PetSmart and PetSmart Charities to help unite homeless pets with families. More than 4 million abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats are euthanized each year in North America. Families who adopt a pet during this event will receive a special New Pet & Parent guide, with more than $35 in valuable PetSmart coupons.
