Nation's Largest Honey Processor Selects Plex Online in Quest to Achieve Global Quality Certification

AUBURN HILLS, MI--(Marketwire - January 13, 2010) - Plex Systems, Inc., provider of the No. 1 rated manufacturing ERP software, today announced that Michigan-based Groeb Farms, Inc., the largest industrial and food service honey packager in the United States, has selected Plex Online as its manufacturing enterprise resource planning (ERP) software provider.

Groeb Farms, Inc. processes honey for sale and distribution to food service distributors, club stores and food manufacturing companies. The company sought a new ERP software provider in order to support its aggressive plans for growth. At the same time, management had decided to pursue the "British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standards" food safety and quality certification and the ERP system would need to support the company's efforts towards this certification.

Considered the global benchmark for food safety and quality in more than 100 countries, the BRC Global Standards certification was originally developed in the United Kingdom to reassure retailers and manufacturers of the capability and competence of their suppliers. Because the certification requires rigorous audits by expert third parties, it reduces or eliminates the need for retailers and manufacturers to conduct their own audits, and reduces the administrative burden on both suppliers and their customers.

According to Groeb Farms Chief Strategy Officer Jodi Sullivan, Plex Online's integrated quality management system will enable the company to achieve the level of product safety, quality and visibility it needs to achieve this prestigious certification.

"There were four main reasons we selected Plex Online," explained Sullivan. "First, the software fit the company's business needs. Another strong attribute was the system's rigorous quality control features such as Statistical Process Controls (SPCs), audit reporting, integrated documentation and non-conformance/corrective and preventative actions, which will help us achieve a BRC designation."

"Plex Online's Internet-based functionalities mean we don't have to purchase hardware, and that provides a dramatic savings for us," continued Sullivan. "Finally, Plex Online is continuously updated, so we know we will always have the latest version of the software."

"We are proud that Groeb Farms has selected Plex Online as the ERP system to meet the highest global standards in food safety and quality," said Plex Systems Executive Vice President Tom Mackey. "Food and beverage processors and packagers like Groeb Farms are rapidly adopting the SaaS delivery model for ERP solutions, and Plex Online is the leading SaaS ERP solution for this industry."

The financial, payroll and order entry modules of Plex Online are currently being implemented at Groeb Farms. After these modules launch in mid-January, the company will begin implementing production, inventory control, distribution, and human resources modules. At the same time, they are preparing for, and will be undergoing, the BRC audit for certification.
