Native Counselling Services of Alberta-Escape From Minimum Security Stan Daniels Healing Centre: Offender Daniel Whitstone

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Oct. 22, 2007) - At approximately 11 a.m., on October 22, 2007, offender Daniel Whitstone escaped from the Stan Daniels Healing Centre. The Edmonton City Police were notified and warrants have been issued.

Daniel WHITSTONE is a 30-year-old offender serving his first term of federal incarceration for four years, four months and 15 days. His offences include robbery and possession of property obtained by crime.

WHITSTONE has a medium complexion, black hair and brown eyes. He stands 183 cm (6' 0") tall and weighs 82 kgs (181 pounds).

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Offender Whitstone is asked to contact police.

The Stan Daniels Healing Center is operated and staffed by Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA) and is located at 9516 101 Avenue in downtown Edmonton. NCSA provides a range of spiritual and correctional programs to both offenders on conditional release and minimum security inmates through agreement with the Minister of Public Safety.

At the time of the incident, there were 25 inmates and 29 conditionally released offenders residing at the Stan Daniels Healing Center.

The Correctional Service of Canada and Native Counselling Services of Alberta will be conducting a joint review of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
