Native New Yorker Teams Up With United Food Bank to Stamp Out Hunger

GILBERT, AZ--(Marketwire - November 14, 2007) - Native New Yorker has announced they are teaming up with the United Food Bank to help stamp out hunger this holiday season. Beginning today, Native New Yorker locations throughout the region will be holding a food drive and will accept non-perishable food donations and frozen turkeys from customers, employees and the general public during regular operating hours. Renowned as having perhaps the best hot chicken wings outside of Buffalo, NY, Arizona's popular Native New Yorker restaurants are focused on helping families in need this charitable season. Containers for the collection of non-perishable items, canned goods and frozen turkeys will be available at all East Valley Native New Yorker locations throughout Arizona including restaurants in Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, and Queen Creek from November 7th through December 18th.

"For over two decades, the community has supported our business and helped us grow into a family favorite with over 19 locations in Arizona, and we have plans for new franchises in over 4 regions. This season, we are giving back to that community to ensure those in need of food throughout the entire holiday season can get that needed help," said Sherri Lind, VP at Native New Yorker. "Our goal is to keep Food Bank shelves full throughout December by making Native New Yorker restaurants a convenient donation drop-off location. We are pleased to partner with the United Food Bank to make a real difference in the lives of people and families throughout the greater East Valley region, and beyond."

Established in 1983, United Food Bank began operations in Mesa, Arizona with a mission to provide access to nutritious food for those who are without, serving as a community bridge between those who want to help and those who are in need. Today, the United Food Bank defines its work as 'Neighbors Helping Neighbors'" and operates as an affiliate of Second Harvest.

"Thanks to the support of generous partners like Native New Yorker, The United Food Bank is able to provide enough food to feed nearly 26,000 hungry people daily," said Bob Evans, president and CEO of The United Food Bank. "Many Arizonans are living paycheck to paycheck and find that the countdown to the holidays places even more stress on already stretched budgets. By extending the food drive into the latter part of December, we anticipate keeping the shelves stocked through the end of the year and to be able to distribute even more food to the hungry throughout eastern Arizona this season."

Native New Yorker restaurants have strong ties to the East Valley community and this initiative builds upon a long tradition of community support. Late last month, Native New Yorker partnered with KDKB Radio and Wal-Mart at Bell Road and 19th Avenue to help support local Arizona efforts to raise money for those impacted by the widespread fires affecting Southern California residents and those who were displaced from their homes. Over $5,000 was raised in the October 29th event.

Nonperishable food items and frozen turkeys can be dropped off during business hours at all East Valley Native New Yorker locations through December 18, 2007.
