Low-Cost Tool Adds Wizards and Automated Scheduling to Further Simplify Online Active Directory Restores and Backup

A major upgrade of its low-cost snap-in to Microsoft's Users and Computers (ADUC), RestoreADmin 2.0 takes online Active Directory backups and restores to new levels with easy-to-use wizards and unprecedented scheduling capabilities.

Available today, RestoreADmin 2.0 includes two new wizards to improve user efficiency. The backup wizard allows administrators to backup specific domains and objects at the frequency of their choice by creating customized backup profiles. For example, administrators may want to backup users and groups every three hours, and only backup other, less critical objects nightly. "With backup profiles, our customers can define customized backup strategies and ensure that critical resources are available when they're needed," said Simmons.

Version 2.0 also features enhancements to the tool's ADUC Recycle Bin snap-in, including a new restore wizard that provides advanced analysis features to accelerate the selection of which objects to restore. The restore wizard also contains a progress dialog to show the status of each object restore and any errors encountered during restoration, helping to avoid costly time lapses. Further, RestoreADmin 2.0's new Schedule Manager enables integrated scheduling and automates the most common administrative tasks to drive process and reduce costs. The familiar Outlook calendar view provides administrators with a global look at backup history, as well as a schedule of future backups, offering a detailed look into the recovery strategy protecting the environment.
