Nevada Pacific Claims More Ground in the Battle Mountain/Cortez Gold Trend

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - May 16, 2006) - Nevada Pacific Gold Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:NPG) is pleased to announce the acquisition by staking of the Freestone Property on the Battle Mountain/Cortez Gold Trend. The 100% owned Freestone Property consists of 50 claims or 1.5 square miles and lies 12 miles southeast of the 10 million ounce Cortez Hills/Pediment deposit (Barrick Gold 60% - Kennecott 40%), and immediately adjacent to the Tonkin Springs property owned by US Gold.

The claims were staked to cover a large gap between White Knight's Indian Ranch property (optioned to Barrick Gold) to the north and US Gold's Tonkin Springs property to the south. The claim block overlies an area of pediment cover where north/northwest Cortez trend structures from the Indian Ranch property intersect a major north-south valley bounding structural feature.

An exploration program will follow data compilation.
