New Online Education Benefit Offered Through California Physical Therapy Association-EDUCATA Partnership

Rich Content Available to PTs/PTAs Through the Association's Website at Special Member Pricing

CALABASAS, CA--(Marketwire - January 7, 2010) - Just as new mandates for physical therapy continuing education are being implemented throughout the state, the California Physical Therapy Association (CPTA) and web 2.0 education provider EDUCATA announce the launch of a joint education resource. Under the terms of the agreement, all of EDUCATA's interactive content is available to CPTA members at a discounted rate.

"We enter into this partnership at an important time for the profession in our state," says Stacy DeFoe, CPTA's Executive Director. "The California Physical Therapy Licensing Board has just enacted continuing competency requirements and licentiates need access to sources of quality education that are also affordable and convenient."

"CPTA plays a vital role in promoting the professional growth of physical therapists in this state," says Marilyn Pink, Ph.D., EDUCATA's President and CEO. "We are extremely pleased to work with them to provide California PTs the quality educators usually available only at national congresses. We bring the educator to the PT through the convenient and personal interface of the web."

Regulations enacted in November 2009 by the Physical Therapy Board of California require that therapists with licenses expiring after October 31, 2010 complete 15 hours of approved courses. Those with licenses expiring October 31, 2011 and after must complete 30 hours. Among mandatory subjects are two hours of ethics, laws and regulations and four hours of life support courses.

About CPTA: The California Physical Therapy Association is a chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association, which represents more than 72,000 physical therapists and physical therapist assistants nationwide. As the third largest physical therapy association in the world, the California Physical Therapy Association is the only voice for the physical therapy profession in the state of California.
