New Sleeper Gold Corporation: $5 Million Exploration Program
Underway at Sleeper

LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 2, 2005) - New Sleeper Gold
Corporation (TSX VENTURE:NWS) and X-Cal Resources Ltd. (TSX:XCL)

The Sleeper Joint Venture Technical Committee has approved an initial
$US 5 million Work Program for 2005. The Sleeper Joint Venture partners,
New Sleeper Gold Corporation (TSX-V:NWS) (50%) and X-Cal Resources Ltd.
(TSX:XCL) (50%) are aggressively exploring the 30 square mile Sleeper
Gold Project located in Humboldt County, Nevada.

Currently, two drills are on site and operating. An initial 55,000 feet
of core and reverse circulation (RC) drilling has been approved as part
of the 2005 exploration program. Half of this approved drilling footage
is discretionary and will be allocated as results determine.

The Joint Venture's 2004 exploration program included geochemical
surveys, a variety of geophysical surveys, sampling and mapping in
addition to 75,000 feet of core and RC drilling. Significant drilling
results and exploration target maps are available on New Sleeper Gold
Corporation's web site at and on X-Cal
Resources Ltd. web site at The Exploration Team
will be utilizing this expanded Sleeper database for targeting the 2005
work program.

The targets in the 2005 program include the Range Front Fault target
area, located east of the Sleeper Pit where the Sleeper Volcanics
contact the adjacent sediments. Other targets to be followed up include
extensions to the north and south of the Sleeper mineralization, Bedrock
Casino, and a number of other targets in the vicinity of the Sleeper
Pit. In order to evaluate and rank targets a range of different
geological, geophysical and geochemical methods are being used as well
as integration of the large database from previous work on the property.

Drilling will also be carried out on the Alma, Electrum and Mohawk
targets which lie 3 miles to the south west of the Sleeper Pit.

The West Wood target is currently being modeled. Four new drill holes
are currently being drilled to follow up on the high grade gold
mineralization encountered in the 2004 program.

Results of the 2005 work program will be reported throughout the year in
accordance with NI-43-101 guidelines.

was reviewed and accepted by Qualified Persons at Mine Development
Associates of Reno, Nevada, a well-known consulting mine engineering
services company. Elements of the JV's QA/QC program include chain of
