New York City Department of Education Leverages CyberShift's Workforce Management System for Rapid Implementation of H1N1 Vaccine Distribution Program

Flexible Staff Scheduling and Accurate Reimbursements Key to Meeting Demand

PARSIPPANY, NJ--(Marketwire - November 19, 2009) - CyberShift, a global provider of workforce management and expense management software and services, today announced that its Workforce Management 3G™ Suite is being utilized by the New York City Department of Education (DOE) to support the scheduling of staff who volunteer for H1N1 weekend vaccination clinics. In response to the "Swine Flu" public health crisis, the vaccine is being offered at no cost to New York City children and any others that are deemed to be at risk for the H1N1 Flu at designated sites throughout the City. Volunteers are being asked to serve up to 12 hours per day on the weekends.

The New York City Department of Education is the largest public school system in the country with 1.1 million children in 1,200 public schools throughout the city's five boroughs (the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island) and employs more than 127,000 people.

Known as Points of Dispensing (PODs), vaccine distribution points are located in New York City schools throughout the five boroughs. To ensure the success of each of the PODs, non-medical staff is needed to augment core medical team members. Department of Education employees who volunteer will be paid for the weekend assignments in addition to their regular schedules. The Department of Education will be reimbursed for their employees' services by another City Agency. In order for this reimbursement to happen, accurate tracking of time worked is of paramount importance. The New York City Department of Education is leveraging CyberShift's workforce management system to calculate the complex business rules needed to address the multi-faceted scheduling and timekeeping requirements.

Beth Knipfing, Deputy Executive Director for CFO Operations, New York City Department of Education, stated, "Our primary objective is to quickly schedule our staff to execute on the timely distribution of the vaccine. To support this goal, as well as to satisfy the detailed documentation required by government guidelines and to accurately identify and pay our employees, we rely heavily on our CyberShift workforce management system."

Robert E. Farina, CyberShift's CEO, commented, "Throughout our long-standing relationship, we have had to address many unique requirements for the New York City Department of Education. Pandemics of the magnitude of the H1N1 flu require the ability to respond quickly and decisively. We are pleased that we are able to work with the DOE in their implementation of this high priority initiative."
