New York Festivals Begins 2008 as the Fastest Growing International Awards Organization, Seeks Entries for This Year's Advertising in All Media Competition

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 8, 2008) - New York Festivals (NYF) saw unprecedented growth and added six staffers in 2007. Three of the new employees bring with them invaluable previous international awards organization experience from time spent at the Clio Awards.

With more energy and expertise than ever, NYF is gearing up for the biggest and best International Advertising in All Media Awards in the history of the company. Don't miss this opportunity to participate. The last day to submit to the 2008 competition is January 14.

The 20 percent increase in entries submitted in 2007 comes on the heels of an 18 percent rise in submissions in 2006. In only two years, CEO Jim Smyth -- who helped resurrect the Clio Awards from bankruptcy in the 1990s -- has doubled the size of the company, marking NYF as the fastest growing advertising awards competition in the world.

Joel Goodman, Leslie Rasimas and Petrina Hicks all joined NYF in the fall of 2007. Goodman joins as an executive director following 14 years spent at the Clio Awards, where he began as a project manager and ended his tenure there as marketing director. Leslie Rasimas worked to develop international strategies at the Clio Awards before accepting the post of international development manager at NYF. Hicks, who accepted the newly minted events manager position at NYF, spent two years coordinating events at the Clio Awards.

This past year also saw NYF representatives traveling the globe. In Slovenia, Executive Director Michael Demetriades met with Donald Gunn of the Gunn Report, who reiterated to Demetriades that he thought NYF was an internationally significant awards competition. Gunn later mentioned the NYF in his Golden Drum presentation, removing any doubt that Gunn considered NYF wins in the Gunn Report tabulation, the industry standard for naming the most awarded companies in the world.

Michael O'Rourke, International Marketing Director, ventured throughout South America, Asia and Europe to help host local NYF events and to further international awareness of NYF competitions.

Growth is sure to expand in 2008 with the help of the invaluable new staff and many, many international events planned in addition to the more traditional New York City events.
