Nexstar Energy Provides Operations and Corporate Update

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Aug. 13, 2009) - Nexstar Energy Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:NXE.A) (TSX VENTURE:NXE.B) ("Nexstar Energy" or the "Company") announces initial production results from its second Cardium horizontal well in the Pembina area of central Alberta. Initial production data received from the 100/16-19-047-02W5M well indicates that well performance is similar to the Company's previously announced Pembina discovery well located at 100/01-25-047-03W5M. The new 16-19 well is presently on pump and is currently producing in excess of 250 bopd (gross) with minor solution gas and no water. Nexstar Energy participated for a 31.82% working interest in the costs of this well to earn an equivalent working interest before payout and a 20.68% working interest after payout. The Company currently holds an inventory in excess of 40 Cardium light oil drilling locations in the Pembina area with working interests varying between 20% and 60%. Drilling operations for the third Cardium horizontal well in the Company's program commenced on August 10, 2009.

Conversion of Debentures

Effective as of August 12, 2009, the Company announces the conversion of all Convertible Debentures (the "Debentures") to Class A Shares of the Company. As a result of this conversion, the Company has issued 53,200,000 Class A Shares of the Company to Debenture holders. The Company also advises that 600,000 Class A Shares were recently issued as a result of the exercise of 600,000 flow-through warrants issued pursuant to a Private Placement that closed on November 21, 2008.
