Nexus Shows Local Businesses How to Master the Art of Virtual Desktop Computing

IT Provider Hosts Interactive VDI Kung Fu Seminar; Unveils New World-Class Virtual Desktop Showcase

MINNETONKA, MN--(Marketwire - August 18, 2010) -  Helping local businesses understand the ins and outs of virtual desktop computing, Nexus Information Systems today welcomed more than 100 IT professionals and business owners to its Summer VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) Kung Fu 2010 Seminar.

Posing the question, "How strong is your Virtual Desktop Kung Fu?" this one day, interactive technology seminar is being hosted today at the company's headquarters in Minnetonka, MN and sponsored by VMware, Citrix, HP, Indigo Identityware, Dell, WYSE, and APC. Nexus introduced its Virtual Desktop Kung Fu Seminars earlier this year to help clients stay ahead of market trends and gain a clear understanding of the business and technical benefits VDI solutions bring to the table.

"Right now VDI is an emerging technology that many IT professionals are just starting to take a look at," explains John DeRocker, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Nexus Information Systems. "But as IT budgets make a comeback and businesses look to refresh their existing infrastructure and upgrade to Windows 7, the productivity benefits and cost savings of VDI will become undeniable and drive increased market adoption within the U.S."

As part of the seminar, Nexus engineers as well as IT experts from high-profile alliance partners including Citrix, Dell, HP, Indigo Identityware and VMware will share valuable market insight into the current state of desktop and application virtualization, thin clients, single sign-on and the roaming desktop. Experts will also discuss and demonstrate the technical aspects and business advantages associated with VDI including how to create, maintain and grow a virtualized IT environment and effectively manage IT storage needs and upgrades such as Windows 7.

Nexus Invests in New Virtual Desktop Showcase
Recognized as one of the nation's top information technology providers of data center solutions including virtualization, data storage, networking, servers, and managed services, Nexus is pleased to announce its new world-class Virtual Desktop Showcase.

Located at Nexus' headquarters, the Virtual Desktop Showcase features more than $650,000 in virtualized equipment. Debuting as part of the Kung Fu Seminar series, the new demonstration and testing showroom allows IT pros and business owners to get upfront and personal with a variety of VDI solutions and gain a real sense of the time and money they'll save, not only managing their IT infrastructure, but also repurposing and refreshing old technology and purchasing virtualized PC hardware.

Included in this real-world technology playground are a number of virtual desktop solutions and applications from the industry's top IT vendors including APC, Citrix, Dell, EMC, HP, IBM, Indigo Identityware, Juniper Networks, NetApp, WYSE, Ergotron, Microsoft, and VMware.

"From virtual desktops and applications to multi-monitor support, thin clients and multi-system operating support, our Virtual Desktop Showcase offers a first-hand look at the most popular virtualized solutions available on the market," says DeRocker. "This new, multi-vendor virtualized solution center is open to our clients and offers a great way for our engineers to show customers how these powerful solutions come together and discuss the business value and technical advantages they offer."
