Nielsen's Insights Positioned to Enhance Wal-Mart Canada's "Store of the Community" Program

MARKHAM, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 27, 2008) - The Nielsen Company is pleased to announce it will deliver best-in-class targeting, segmentation and demographic insights to Wal-Mart Canada in support of the retailer's "Store of the Community" program.

Wal-Mart Canada recently signed a three-year licensing agreement for Nielsen's Spectra segmentation and targeting solution - a robust tool that weaves together information about consumers and their communities from several different data sources.

Wal-Mart Canada will use Spectra's insights for its "Store of the Community" program, which ensures that stores stock merchandise that reflects the unique characteristics of the local communities and customers they serve. The program is guided by a dedicated team of Wal-Mart Canada merchants who use Spectra and Census data to identify customer demographics, purchasing behaviour and multicultural population clusters around stores.
