today announced that its Academic and Research Use Program, which has
received wide interest from academic and research communities around the
world, has signed on MediGRID institutions. MediGRID is a part of the
German D-GRiD Initiative that enables data sharing and collaboration in
biomedical research.
SRB connects diverse and distributed data systems for unified access,
extracts and manages metadata to facilitate search and discovery, and
automates a number of data management tasks for reduced administration and
regulatory compliance.
With SRB, multiple data stores can be merged into a large data repository,
which is accessible from any CIFS or NFS environment (e.g., Windows, MacOS,
LINUX, etc.) as a virtual file system. Data management tasks, such as
replication, synchronization, migration and backup, can be carried out
