Non-Profit Group Supporting People With Severe Disabilities Gaining Savings via Agresso ERP Software

Skookum Says Budgeting Solution Uncovers +100K of Errors; Performance Improvements Tied to Agresso Post-Implementation Agility Capabilities

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 2, 2009) - Agresso, a leading provider of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software announced today that a U.S. based non-profit organization dedicated to the employment of persons with severe disabilities, including disabled U.S. veterans, is overcoming budgeting hurdles and maintaining its fiscal health during this recession based on the company's enterprise software solution. Skookum, a Washington State based group employing some 700 workers says that Agresso's ERP solution has enabled them to recover hundreds of thousands of dollars in errors.

"Agresso's budgeting tool gave us, for the first time, a reliable budget that was not prone to the errors inherent in multiple linked spreadsheets," relates Jim Golden, director of business systems at Skookum. "When we first entered our Excel-based budget into Agresso, we uncovered many $50K+ errors resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in errors, significantly impacting our budgeted bottom line."

Many not-for-profit organizations are struggling in this economy; their assets are getting hammered in the stock market, high-profile Wall Street donors have disappeared, and charitable contributions are taking a backseat as businesses tighten their belts. An October 2008 survey of non-profits conducted by Guidestar(1), a leader in collecting and sharing information on U.S. non-profits, found that 35 percent of participants saw a decrease in contributions in the first nine months of 2008 (compared to only 19 percent in 2007). Over the same period, 64 percent of participants reported an increase in demand for their services.

"Non-profits are feeling the squeeze from both ends and the need for reliable budgeting and planning has never been greater," says Shelley Zapp, president of Agresso North America. "We continue to hear from customers like Skookum how Agresso is helping them to improve their business processes, contain costs and avoid ongoing unsupportable IT spend.

"In 2007, when Skookum's continued fiscal health was threatened, it was critical for our operational managers to get the detailed information they needed to immediately improve their departments' performance," continued Golden. "With Agresso's self-service web-based inquiries, managers were able to get the information quickly and easily. This empowerment produced immediate, dramatic results, and today Skookum is stronger than it's ever been."

Agresso's key advantage, what they call "post-implementation agility" allows organizations to make changes to their ERP system themselves easily. This ability is critical for non-profits who are facing so much uncertainty and can't afford the unreliability of multiple spreadsheets, or the uncertainty associated with alternate solutions.
