OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 22, 2010) - The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, today announced the appointment of Nora English as a member of the Council.
"Ms. English's experience in the field of social work will allow her to serve the Council by offering vast expertise in the realm of social sciences and humanities. I am pleased to welcome her as a member of the Council," said Minister Clement.
Ms. English is currently the Student Services Coordinator at the School of Social Work at Memorial University in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. She has served on various research teams, including the Child Protection Research Team at the university. She has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of St. Francis Group Home and of the Board of Directors of Shalom Inc.
Ms. English earned a Master of Social Work degree at Dalhousie University. Her contribution has focused on retirement in the social work field and proactive approaches to youth who run away from home.
