OCPM: Public Consultation on the Draft Lease Agreement for the Site of the CBC Broadcasting Antenna in Parc du Mont-Royal

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 23, 2008) - It is today that the Office de consultation publique de Montreal (OCPM) announces a public consultation on the Draft lease agreement for the site for the CBC broadcasting antenna in parc du Mont-Royal The Office de consultation publique de Montreal (OCPM) was given the mandate by the Montreal executive committee to hold public hearings on that project.

The City of Montreal must renegotiate the lease agreement for the site of the antenna in Parc du Mont-Royal, as the current agreement expires on December 31, 2008. The new draft agreement provides for the rental of the same site for a period of ten years, with an option to renew for an additional five years. The rent to be paid by Radio-Canada would amount to $500,000 the first year, indexed annually. It is proposed that part of the amount be earmarked for the protection and enhancement of Mount Royal.

The public consultation held by the OCPM will provide a forum for discussing the draft agreement, location of the antenna, public health and safety issues, and questions involving the landscape. The consultation is open to all.

The information session starts at 7:00p.m. on October 8 at the Basement of Saint-Kevin Church, located at 5590 Cote-des-Neiges, (metro Cote-des-Neiges). The session for the presentation of briefs will be hold at the same location and will start on October 29, 7:00 p.m.
