OFL TO KICK OFF PROVINCE-WIDE CAMPAIGN FOR $10 AN HOUR MINIMUM WAGE

NEWS CONFERENCE - WATERLOO LABOUR COUNCIL OFFICE, 141 KING STREET EAST, KITCHENER -- TUESDAY, JANUARY 30, 2007 AT 4:00 P.M.

Attention: Assignment Editor, Media Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 29, 2007) - Wayne Samuelson, President, Ontario Federation of Labour, and Rick Moffitt, President, Waterloo Region Labour Council, will outline the need for a $10 an hour minimum wage.

The OFL representing over 750,000 workers and their families has an important role to play in bringing this debate to workplaces and communities across the province.

"This is not only a Toronto issue. It impacts on working families across the province," said Samuelson. "When the provincial Liberal government can vote themselves a 25% increase, they can surely find the time and energy to undo the Harris/Eves eight-year freeze of the minimum wage."
