OKC Cat Club Holds 5th Annual Charity Allbreed Cat Show in Conjunction With Marines' 'Toys for Tots'

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 15, 2006 -- Associated with The Cat Fanciers Association, the largest and most prestigious purebred cat registry in the world, the Oklahoma City Cat Club will hold its 5th Annual Charity Allbreed Cat show in conjunction with the U.S. Marines' 'Toys for Tots' drive on Saturday and Sunday, November 25/26, 2006, at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds Centennial Building. The Marines will be in attendance all weekend to gather new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages. Show hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission fees for spectators are $5 for Adults, $4 for Seniors and $4 for Children under the age of 12.

At this year's show, up to 250 purebred cats and kittens representing as many as 25 different breeds will be present from all over the Midwest, as well as featuring a Household Pet division. Examples of breeds at this show will include: Abyssinians, Birmans, Exotic Shorthair (a lazy man's Persian), Maine Coons, Oriental Shorthairs, Persians, Sphynx and Tonkinese. There will also be a Purebred Rescue Group in attendance with those purebred cats and/or kittens looking for new homes for the holidays. Visitors to the show are encouraged to bring toys for the Marines' drive. There will also be vendors on hand offering cat-related merchandise such as cat toys, decorative items for the home, cat trees, purses, jewelry and clothing.

The Oklahoma City Cat Club is one of the oldest, continuously running CFA clubs in the United States and is approaching its 50th year anniversary. Since their annual show is always held on Thanksgiving weekend, five (5) years ago the OKC Club partnered with the Marines' 'Toys for Tots' program. Each year the Charity Cat Show is a weekend-long drop off point for the 'Toys for Tots' drive. In addition to toys brought to the show by exhibitors and guests, the club itself spends and donates $500-$700 of toys to the Marines' drive. This year, any spectator who brings a new, unwrapped toy to the show will receive free tickets to our splendid raffle, which has many wonderful items and runs for both days.
