OSC Vice-Chair Seconded to Canadian Securities Transition Office

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - July 9, 2009) - The Canadian Securities Transition Office announced today that Lawrence Ritchie, Vice-Chair of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), will join the Transition Office as Executive Vice President and Senior Policy Advisor, effective July 13, 2009, the day the Office starts operations.

Doug Hyndman, who becomes Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the Transition Office the same day, said he is pleased that the OSC has agreed to make Mr. Ritchie available to work on the Office's mandate to lead and manage the transition to a Canadian securities regulator.

Mr. Ritchie will be seconded to the Transition Office to work with Mr. Hyndman and Bryan Davies, who will be the Vice Chair of the Office. Mr. Ritchie has been Vice-Chair of the OSC since February 2007. Prior to joining the OSC, he was a partner at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, specializing in general corporate, securities and commercial litigation.

The Canadian Securities Transition Office, to be established on July 13, 2009, will be a statutory agency of the Government of Canada reporting to the Minister of Finance. Its purpose is to assist in the establishment of a Canadian securities regulation regime and a Canadian regulatory authority.
