OSI Awarded C$1.2 million U.S. Department of Defense Contracts

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - May 23, 2006) - Offshore Systems International Ltd. (TSX:OSI)(OTCBB:OFSYF) (OSI) today announced its U.S. subsidiary has been awarded contracts valued at approximately C$1.2 million (US$1.0 million) by the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). These contracts provide prototype display solutions aimed at improving battlespace decision-making, collaboration, and adaptation.

"Increasingly militaries operate in complex urban environments and must learn to adapt to unpredictable scenarios,"said Ken Kirkpatrick, president and CEO of OSI. "The contracts awarded today investigate some of these challenges of the future battlespace. We expect this development work to enhance our technical expertise in areas of growing military importance and enhance our visibility with the U.S. Department of Defense."

Under the terms of the DARPA contract, the company will continue development of a prototype system called C2insight that facilitates adaptive problem solving in fast-paced and dynamic warfare situations. C2insight uses data derived from DARPA's command and control (C2) system, Command Post of the Future (CPOF), to improve situational awareness, collaborative decision-making, and training for future users of the CPOF system.

The AFRL contract supports the Commander's Predictive Environment program through research and development of systems that enhance battlespace understanding. This effort is aimed at creating decision-support components that improve collaboration and interoperability on political, military, economic, social, infrastructure, and information levels.
