Octasic Inc. Hires Industry Veteran to Expand Sales in Japan

MONTREAL--(Marketwire - April 19, 2010) -  Octasic Inc., a leading innovator of media processing and wireless solutions, today announced the addition of Masaki Kubodera as representative director of Japan. Masaki joins Octasic with more than 15 years of sales, business development and strategic marketing experience in the telecommunications, mobile and wireless semiconductor industries.

Kubodera has had an extensive and diverse global career, having held positions which spanned all aspects of sales and business in Japan, US, Europe, and Asia. Prior to his work at Octasic, he served as director of sales and business development at Stantum, a pioneer in multi-touch technology. Kubodera also served in various senior management roles at Icera Semiconductor, Agere Systems (spun off from Lucent Microelectronics) and Infineon Technology, where he was responsible for data, telecom, wireless LAN and SDR products in Japan and Asia.

"We are pleased to be able to bring on someone with Masaki's impressive level of experience to better serve our Japanese market," said Fabio Gambacorta, vice president sales and business development at Octasic. "He has a successful track record of building and leading motivated sales and support teams, and he has proven his understanding of emerging key technologies and the ability to drive these technologies to the right market, which will prove to be an asset in assessing and responding to the needs of our Japanese customers."

Kubodera will expand Octasic's existing media processing and wireless solutions in Japan, with its recently announced second generation Opus DSP core, a high-performance, ultra-low power, asynchronous DSP architecture optimized for baseband processing and multimedia transcoding. Targeted applications include IP PBXs, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), video transcoding, video conferencing solutions as well as macro, pico, and femto basestations for CDMA, UMTS, WiMAX, XGP and LTE.

"I am pleased to come on board at such an exciting time for Octasic, as they are developing new platforms to meet the evolving needs of communications equipment manufacturers," said Kubodera. "I look forward to using my experience with building new market and customer strategies to further Octasic's growth and to solidify its position in the Japanese market."
