Odor-Tech Stresses Natural Gas Safety

PINEVILLE, LA--(Marketwire - January 21, 2008) - In an effort to educate the public during the cold weather season, Odor-Tech would like to communicate important safety tips regarding natural gas and propane and what to do if you think you detect a leak.

In its original state, natural gas is odorless and colorless. As a safety measure, odor is added so leaks may be detected. The odorant itself is harmless, often reflecting a "rotten egg" smell that distinguishes natural gas and propane odorant from other smells.

In the event you detect or suspect a leak you should follow important safety measures:

- Leave the location of the odor immediately.

- Do not light matches or flick lighters or do anything that could create a spark.

- Do not turn on or off light switches or make phone calls.

- Do not do anything that may create a spark.

- Call your local gas company or the local fire department.

Thomas Tucker, President of Odor-Tech, recommends: "When someone thinks they detect a leak it's important they remain calm and use common sense. Simply leave the scene and contact your gas company or local fire department."
