Online Video World Disrupted by New Open Source Entrant

Recognized by Three Independent Industry Sources in the Past Two Months, Kaltura's Unique Open Source Online Video Platform Closes In on Proprietary Vendors to Gain a Leadership Position

Specifically, Kaltura was named a Strong Performer in "The Forrester Wave™: US Online Video Platforms, Q4 2009" (November 2009), an independent research report. Kaltura received the research's highest mark in 'customer base' and was ranked among the top three platforms across all major evaluation categories. According to the report, Kaltura is a "newer entrant to the market," yet the company has already amassed more than 35,000 "registered active customers under its monthly or free offering." The report also states that "Kaltura offers a highly differentiated video platform option, which allows organizations to fully own the open source code at no charge. The company also impresses with pioneering user-generated video that allows viewers to remix video clips. This comes on the heels of Kaltura's endorsement by IDC, another leading independent research firm, as one of "10 innovative application companies under $100M to watch." Earlier in October, Kaltura was named one of the world's five most promising startups focused on open source at the Open World Forum in Paris. The Open World Forum is the most important international convention dedicated to exploring the technological, economic, and social impacts of open technologies.
