Ontario Tories (37%) Edge Ahead of Liberals (36%)

Provincial PCs (+4) gain edge in statistical tie, as Liberal brand tumbles (-8) and NDP hold steady at 19% Attention: Assignment Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 29, 2005) - PCs (37%) Hold Edge in Statistical Tie with Liberals (36%)
· Since March, the Tories (+4) and Other Parties (+4) post gains.
· In wake of Brault's Gomery testimony on federal stage, provincial Liberal brand tumbles (-8).
· NDP continue to hold steady at 19%.

Only Four-in-Ten (40%) say McGuinty Government has Ontario on Right Track
· When judging the overall direction of the McGuinty Government,
only 40% say the provincial Liberals have Ontario on the right track.
· Just 5% say it is strongly on the right track.

· Conversely, 48% say the McGuinty Government is on the wrong track.
· Notably, a quarter (25%) say it is strongly on the wrong track.

· More than one-in-ten (12%) do not have an opinion on,
or are unsure of, the overall direction of the government.

Health Care (59%) and Education (38%) Top the Provincial Issue Agenda
· When asked to name the most important issues for Ontario's leaders
to focus upon right now, Health Care (59%) is clearly the top provincial
issue on the public agenda.

· Education (38%) is the sole secondary issue on the provincial agenda.

· Tertiary issues occupying the bottom tier of the agenda include Taxes (9%),
Economy (9%), Environment (8%), Deficit (7%), and Crime (6%).
