OpenLogic Expands Support Offerings for Linux by Announcing SLA Support for CentOS

BROOMFIELD, CO--(Marketwire - December 1, 2009) - OpenLogic, Inc., a provider of enterprise open source software solutions encompassing hundreds of open source packages, today announced for the first time it will begin to sell low cost support packages for community distributions of Linux.

OpenLogic is announcing immediate availability of support for the CentOS Linux distribution. CentOS is a stable operating system which is created from freely available source code of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). More information on CentOS can be found at OpenLogic will expand its support to other community Linux distributions in 2010.

"Our enterprise customers want high-quality support for open source at a reasonable price. We have been successfully providing one-stop support on more than 500 open source products. Adding support for CentOS and other community distributions of Linux is a natural extension of our business," said Steve Grandchamp, CEO of OpenLogic. "Our unique cost-effective support model enables companies to get commercial support for open source software while still maintaining the significant cost advantages."

OpenLogic's support offering for CentOS is priced based on the number of servers and the desired SLA. Customers pay as little as $500 per server for small deployments and as little as $15,000 per year for an unlimited number of servers.

All CentOS support contracts include:

-- Indemnification
-- Unlimited number of support incidents
-- Unlimited number of sockets or CPUs
-- Support for virtual machines

OpenLogic delivers support using internal support experts backed by open source developers in the OpenLogic Expert Community and companies in the OpenLogic Expert Partner program. OpenLogic has added two new partners to the Expert Partner program, credativ and Pantek, that will assist OpenLogic in delivering support for CentOS.

"Like OpenLogic, we see growing interest in our professional services from organizations using community Linux editions instead of the more expensive enterprise editions," said Joe Conway, president of credativ. "Our CentOS support partnership with OpenLogic helps them provide a much lower cost option for companies looking to fully and reliably benefit from the strengths of Linux."

"We use CentOS Linux to run our production hosting and internal development environments. Through Pantek's support of the cAos Foundation, we support the community of open source developers, contributors and users working together to provide community assembled operating systems (CAOS) including CentOS Linux," said Barry Zack, owner and president of Pantek. "This partnership with OpenLogic will help make CentOS a viable option to many new organizations."
